Acting Classes for Novice Actors Learning the
Business of Show Business
This program offers ongoing acting classes for the
actor with little or no previous training or performance experience.
Learn how to bring a scene to "life" through the development
of a character, knowing your wants within a scene, trusting your
instincts and working from a foundation of honesty and commitment.
These specialized acting school classes include
fundamentals of script analysis, technique, improvisational work, cold
readings, and scene work.
A marketing segment is provided for all the
"Business" of Show Business, such as head-shots, resumes,
agents, casting directors, and how to look out for pitfalls. Look to

Acting
Classes for Intermediate Actors
All On-Camera Cold Reading, Scene Study, Prepared Scenes and Monologues, Simulated Auditions, and Improv Classes for the Actor
Looking for Work
These set of acting classes feature an incredibly
dynamic combination of cold readings from over four thousand audition
pieces from film, television and stage with emphasis on auditioning to
get the call back and the part. Combined with alternate monologue and
scene work, our acting school technique pushes you to take risks and
make challenging decisions. We push you to make your work special.
Included in these acting classes are advanced levels
of an actor's technique work, script analysis, and improvisational
work.
These classes require a professional headshot, acting
resume, and previous acting experience and/or training as an actor.
Applicants to the acting school will participate in a personal
interview with Nick Conti, in which you will also present a prepared
monologue.

All On-Camera Advanced
Auditioning and Scene Study Classes for the Professional Actor
These fast paced
acting classes are designed for the professional, well trained, working
actor. Our acting school classes are the place to stretch for the
highest level of creativity, uninhibited expression, experimentation
with unique script interpretations, split second character adjustments
and an opportunity to work with difficult material. Emphasis is placed
on moment-to-moment work, exciting bold choices, free flowing
instincts, and intense character development.
These are
inspiring acting classes where the audition material is brought to peak
levels in under twenty minutes. Cold readings
include the actual audition scripts from film, soap opera, "Movie
of the Week," night time drama, night time sitcom, and the stage.
This program of
acting classes requires a professional headshot, acting resume, and
previous acting experience and/or training as an actor. Applicants to
the acting school will participate in a personal interview with Nick
Conti, in which you will also present a prepared monologue. Seasoned
actors may also be admitted into these acting classes by invitiation from Nick Conti.

Teenagers at All Levels
Acting Classes
for Young Adults Learning the Business of Show Business in a Fun, Safe
Environment
This set of
acting classes is designed for the 14 to 19 year-old actor. These
creative classes in our acting school combine improvisational exercises
and cold readings. Scene study work is also included in these classes.
Emphasis is
placed on working from a foundation of honesty and creativity. The
teenage acting classes also provide continuous information related to
the "Business of Show Business," including headshots,
resumes, agents, casting directors, etc.

Ongoing
Improv Acting Workshop and Performance Troupe
The Professional Actors Studio is
proud to announce its newest ongoing workshop, "The Improv Acting Troupe."
This special class is only available to
intermediate and advanced actors and is taught by Brian Chapman, a long
time main stage performer at The Whole World Theatre Company, and
member of The Professional Actors Studio. Actors in this workshop will
also have an opportunity to be selected to perform on a monthly basis
in an elite Professional Actors Studio troupe, which will perform improv shows at the studio on a monthly basis.
These actors will be paid for their performances.

New-Beginner/Intermediate
Improv Workshop
An improv
class for those new to improvisation.
This new class provides the beginning to
intermediate improv actor with all of the
fundamentals of improvised acting, focusing on how to build a
successful scene with a partner or partners. Learn how to be successful
in auditions and be further transformed into a great scene partner for
increased success and collaboration in scripted work. Discover how to
think and act "on your feet", improve your listening and
reacting skills, and become a more instinctual actor. In addition,
actors in this class will be considered for advancement to the
Professional Actors Studio performance troupe, "Playing In
Traffic", which performs Sunday nights, with pay. This fun-filled
class is taught by Brian Chapman.
The Beginner/Intermediate Improv classes meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 pm to
10:30pm.
Cost is $110.00 per month (ongoing).

Comedy Classes

This class is a 7 weeks plus 1 performance. Course is for
brand new comedians taught by working standup comics Gilbert lawand and Andy Sandford.
The course will consist of 7 Weeks/7 Classes plus performances three
hour classes that will cover standup basics: joke writing/structure,
timing, delivery, performance, and ultimately what makes you funny!
Each week, we will use a 70-plus page workbook (provided) as a guide
and provide individual attention for each student. Andy and
Gilbert are extremely active in the local comedy scene and can also
guide you on where the best shows (open mics,
etc) are to continue your development after the class is over.
The Standup Comedy classes
meets periodically on Sundays from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. Cost
is $250.00 for 2 month sessions.
